Ovarian stem cells have revolutionized our understanding of female reproductive physiology. These cells, which are capable of generating new eggs, offer promising hope for treating infertility and preserving fertility in women undergoing cancer treatment. In the context of ovarian failure, a condition characterized by a premature decline in ovarian function and egg production, these cells may play a crucial role. Scientists have successfully cultured these cells in the laboratory and transplanted them into animal models, yielding encouraging results. However, challenges remain, such as optimizing culture conditions and elucidating the molecular mechanisms that regulate their differentiation. Despite these challenges, the therapeutic potential of ovarian stem cells is immense and represents one of the most exciting frontiers in reproductive medicine. This review aims to establish the role of ovarian stem cells in restoring reproductive function in women diagnosed with ovarian failure.
